Q1. Why do you require my email address?
Your email address is used to validate your account and send you all the important
messages and announcements.
We don't have our own messaging system, so your email address is the most important
point of contact for various things like sending invites and informing you about
changes in the events you have been invited to.
Your email is also the username which you will be using to login to the system.
Q2. Why do you require my phone number?
ActiveCiti is an event management website.
For any event, it is essential that the the invitees have the phone number of the event
organiser so that they can contact him / her in the event of any emergency.
However, as of now, we do not show the phone number anywhere on the event page. As for your
profile page, you have the option of not showing the phone number to anyone.
We are also in the process of launching an SMS feature by which a lot of communication
will be done via text messages. As such, we will need the cell phone numbers to send the
messages.
In the end, let us assure you that your phone numbers are completly safe with us and we shall
never disclose or cell the same to any third parties ever.
Q3. How safe is my password on ActiveCiti?
Your password is completely safe on ActiveCiti.
The passwords are completely encrypted and stored in the databases. In the event you forget your
password, we never send out your current password in clear text.
A new password will be generated and sent to you.
As such, ActiveCiti is a very safe as far as your passwords are concerned.
Q4. Why am I required to verify my email address after I sign up?
ActiveCiti relies heavily on email to send event invitations, friend requests, event
change / cancel notifications, etc.
As such, it is imperative that we have your right email with us. Hence, you are required
to verify your email after signing up.
Q5. What can I do if I have forgotten my password?
In the event that you forget your password, you can request a new one to be emailed to you.
You can request this from the
forgot password page.
Q6. I want to change the email address with which I registered into ActiveCiti. How can I do that?
We're sorry. This is not possible.
Your email is also your username and a very important point of contact for us.
If you would like to use ActiveCiti with a different email account, you will need to register
again with the new email account.
Q7. Why does the forgot password page say that it will attach my I.P. address to the email it is sending?
At ActiveCiti, we have done away with the secret question / answer section which becomes a big hinderance
to many of the users who forget their password (they complain about forgetting their secret answer as well).
A new password is generated and sent to you when you enter your email address in the
forgot password page.
As a result, it is possible for anyone to key in your email address and thus reset your password.
The password will be emailed to your account only - and hence the system is completely safe - but in case
you did not request the password (and someone else did), you will have some way by which
you can track the person who did.
